Welcome to Troop 4673

Overview

Troop 4673 meets at South County Middle School (8700 Laurel Crest Drive, Lorton, VA 22079), Wednesdays 7:30 to 8:30 PM every week except during Fairfax County Public School closings (including weather related events).  Troop 4673 was formed January 2014 but traces its lineage to Troop 683 which was formed in late-2005 and dissolved with the move to a new charter partner in 2014.  The troop continues to build on its heritage and reputation for performance excellence.

Troop 4673 is "Scout-led" in both word and practice.  Our purpose is to help Scouts become honorable men.  To achieve this, Troop 4673 uses an active outdoor program that encourages youth leadership to build moral strength and character, foster citizenship and develop physical, mental, and emotional fitness.

Program - the key to keeping boys in Scouting and delivering the promise

The Troop's annual program is developed by the Scouts themselves and includes monthly campouts and other special activities and service projects such as: Scouting for Food, Camporees, and other district and council events.  Monthly campouts typically start with a departure on Friday evening at 5:30 and a return home Sunday morning or early afternoon, depending on the location of the campout.

Summer camp in 2023 remains to be decided but past camps have included the Rodney Scout Reservation located on over 900 acres of rolling upland woodlands at the head of the Chesapeake Bay, which boasts of over a mile of prime Chesapeake Bay waterfront.  Forecast high adventure activities in the years to come include Florida Sea Base, Philmont Scout Ranch, Northern Tier, and the Summit Bechtel Scout Reserve.

Each spring the Troop holds a mulch sale to raise money to support our program.  Each Scout and his parent(s) are expected to participate.

All Scouts are expected to wear uniforms (shirt, pants/shorts, socks, and belt) to all events unless asked to do otherwise.
